New Edition of the Russian Classification

New edition of the Russian classification of territories of municipal formations (OKTMO) will be put into effect January 1, 2014 by the Russian Federal State Statistics Service. The purpose of the new classification is to include settlements within the municipality formations by the use of 11-digit OKTMO codes. Previous edition — OK 033-2005 — will therefore be obsolete by the beginning of the year.

We are glad to announce that all of our datasets for Russian Federation released from January 2, 2014 onward starting with the Russian Rayon Boundaries will already be using the new precise classification of territories.
